I first discovered my enthusiasm for interior design as a child. I was constantly changing my room around, draping scarves from the ceilings and arranging small installations of objects for interest. My childhood saw me literally playing ‘house’ on building sites in our newly developing suburb. I have always responded to colour and went to study Fine Art and then completed a Higher Diploma in Interior Decorating and Design.
Having now worked in the Interior Design industry for the last decade, I have been exposed to every aspect of a project, from building works to the last flower in a vase.
To describe my style and how I work: The logistics of the project are my chief responsibility. Although I easily adapt to a client’s tastes, if given carte blanche, I stick to classic principles of scale and proportion, and set the tone with cool neutral backgrounds – inspired by nature. I like to accessorise with colour, artwork and sculpture, and mix quirky combinations of clean lines and antique furnishings – antiques bring a great deal of personality to an otherwise modern room. Mirrors, careful lighting and pictures hung symmetrically are important too.
